CALPINE, California — Sierra County’s solid-waste directory identifies the Sattley Transfer Station at 3065 A-23, Calpine, CA 96124. The facility’s name and mailing locality are different, a detail worth checking before using a map app to find it.
The official Solid Waste Operations page lists a limited weekly schedule: Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. These are published regular hours, not a live statement that the gate is open on a specific day.
Holiday and weather exceptions
County facilities close for listed holidays. The schedule includes Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, along with other federal and state holidays. The specific observed date can shift in some years, so residents should confirm the current calendar directly with Sierra County.
Mountain weather and site maintenance may also affect availability. Before a long rural drive, review the official site and call the Public Works office when a closure is possible.
Which material can be accepted?
The county’s solid-waste section separates subjects such as recycling, household hazardous and electronic waste, demolition material and green-waste restrictions. Those categories do not necessarily use the same acceptance procedure. Confirm the material type, fees and load restrictions before traveling. The ordinary weekly station hours should not be read as authorization to bring hazardous waste on any day.
How to verify the right site
Sierra County Public Works lists the administrative contact number (530) 289-3201. Residents can ask about exact facility access, fees and whether any special collection event is scheduled. Sierra County’s published public works site also explains that different parts of the county have separate transfer facilities.
The Sattley location serves as an example of why a Calpine household should check both the facility name and address. Rely on the county’s directory rather than treating an online map’s place-name label as the complete operating schedule.
